About Parish Council Meetings
The Parish Council meets monthly, on the second Monday in the month, unless otherwise indicated and commence at 7.30 pm.
Between April to September inclusive, meetings are held in the Goodwill Hall, Wrexham Road, Faddiley. From October to March inclusive, the Council meets at the Baddiley and Ravensmoor Methodist Chapel, Swanley Lane, Ravensmoor.
At the December meeting, the draft budget for the forward year is considered. This is an opportunity for parishioners to have their say on what should be included. The budget is then agreed at the January meeting.
In May, there are two meetings held on the same evening for convenience; (1) The Annual Parish Meeting at 7.30 pm and (2) the Annual Council Meeting which follows at the conclusion of the Parish Meeting.
The Parish Meeting comprises local government electors registered for the parish. If present, the Parish Council Chairman must chair the Parish Meeting. In his absence, the Vice-Chairman must preside if she is present; otherwise the meeting must elect its own chairman from those present.
A Parish Meeting may discuss parish affairs, and resolutions may be passed which the Parish Council is obliged to consider but not necessarily accept.
The Parish Meeting must assemble annually between 1 March and 1 June. Proceedings must not begin before 6 pm. Decisions are taken by a majority of those present and voting.
Registered electors can submit a resolution to be discussed at the Parish Meeting. Written notice of the resolution must be submitted to the Clerk prior to the meeting. If the resolution is passed, the Parish Council is obliged to consider the matter at a subsequent meeting. Even in the absence of written resolutions, registered electors can raise any matter during the meeting.
At the Annual Council Meeting, the Chairman and Vice-Chairman are elected and the accounts for the previous financial year are approved for auditing purposes.
